Start with the Artist Archetype

*** The Artist Archetype is about passion that is expressed
beyond the five senses. It is expression in the physical
form. We usually think of an artist as a painter – but we
mustn’t exclude an interior decorator, a song composer, the
writer, a chef, just to name a few. The important element to
remember about the artist is expression both psychological and
emotional.

An example of the shadow artist might be the starving artist,
or the eccentric artist with flamboyant dress or style.
There is also the alleged disturbed artist – Vincent Van Gogh

*** On Writing

Ask questions of both your artist types such as,

What are your physical and/or mental characterics?
What role or roles do you play in my life?
Write a letter to your artist.
Try a mind mapping technique.

Summary

1 – choose your notebook to house your archetypes
decorate or embellish the covers if you wish

2 – find images representing your ideas of your artist
type

3 – create your collage of the light and shadow sides of
the archetype

4 – write your thoughts, including questions and post to this site.

  1. This is really a great idea. Perhaps this will inspire me to get more involved…I have been wanting to do art rather than writing at present. thanks for the lovely site! karen

  2. I love this medium and hope to be a frequent contributor. One question though, how often are you posting a challenge? Just curious.
I have checked your other blogs and they are truly inspirational. Your work really speaks to me and I’m sure many more. So glad you have started this site in SFC.
